The artist talk last Saturday, July 10th, with artists of the Urbanity exhibition was a huge success.
Attendees crowded the large exhibit area of Diana H. Jones Center in Bushwick, Brooklyn to enjoy last views of Urbanity: Interpretations of the Urban Landscape and the seniors’ exhibit, Color Splash, before sold artworks and exhibits were removed later that day. Ken Kern’s article in the June Bushwick Observer prominently featured both exhibits in the color centerfold and issues were on hand for all to peruse. Plus, presenting the artist talk in English and Spanish created it’s own twist of interesting fun! The sincere joy of art fostering community and overcoming differences of language, age, race, etc. was IN THE AIR – it was a wonderful event for all. Yes, idealism lives!
Thank you to all those that attended and made the mix and mingle so enjoyable. And thanks to the Center and those related (Narcisa, Arlene, Lulu, Roxanne, Marina, Irene, Sandra & Dorothy) plus BAC (Kathleen). Diana H. Jones Center is a wonderful, receptive place for artists to share their artwork. And of course, gratitude goes to the talented, participating artists for their contribution of artwork, time and spirit: Rhett Jones, Mark Skwarek, Melissa Dyanne Bartlett, and Jillian Brall. Once again, the urban art prevails over the unjustified modern prejudice. Great job BK! This will serve as an successful example for many culturally diversified environments.
